Huffing allegedly leads to $15K crash at Home Depot

[Pinal County Sheriff's Office]

A Maricopa man was arrested after police say he told officers that huffing caused him to crash into a light pole at Home Depot.

William Monaghan, 40, was arrested around 10:33 p.m. Monday after officers responded to the Home Depot parking lot on Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway for a vehicle collision, according to a probable cause statement.

Officers found a white Chevrolet Colorado that had struck a light pole, causing about $15,000 in damage, according to the statement. Monaghan was identified as the driver and sole occupant.

Monaghan told officers his huffing caused the collision, and officers reported seeing multiple air canisters inside the vehicle, according to the statement.

Police also learned Monaghan’s driver’s license was suspended following a previous DUI, according to the statement.

He was booked into the Pinal County Jail on charges including aggravated DUI, DUI, criminal damage and reckless driving.
