Copper Sky is offering Maricopa parents a rare Mother’s Day gift: four supervised hours without the kids.

The multigenerational center’s Child Watch team will be hosting a Parents Night Out event Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the gym, offering childcare for kids ages 3 to 11.

The event will give kiddos a safe environment to participate in supervised activities and have pizza for dinner.

“Our goal of this event is to provide a chance for the community to bring their kids to a fun, safe and activity-packed environment so that parents and/or caregivers can have an opportunity to enjoy a night out in Maricopa to celebrate Mother’s Day or have some well-deserved personal time,” said a city spokesperson.

There are a couple of caveats to the free childcare: Children must be potty trained and parents must remain within city limits. Parents will be asked to pick up their child if an accident or any behavior issues occur.

The event costs $25 per child and parents can register on the city website by 9 p.m. Friday.

The idea of a third space is a gathering spot that isn’t work or home. Think a place like the cozy Central Perk coffee shop in "Friends" or the bar where everybody knows your name in "Cheers." Maricopa, what’s your favorite third space?
