Police say covered camera, pry marks point to break-in attempt

[Pinal County Sheriff's Office]

A woman reported a man trying to break into her home on Sept. 17, around 12:15 p.m. at home off Gunsmoke Road.

Police found Errol W. Morris, 37, walking out of her backyard through a gate with two screwdrivers in his pocket, according to a probable cause statement.

When asked what he was doing there, Morris said he was trying to get his documents that the woman had been holding onto for him.

She and Morris had been “talking,” but he was not given permission to be on her property, according to a probable cause statement.

Police found a small bucket had been placed over a backyard camera to block it from recording and visible pry marks on her back sliding glass door consistent with someone attempting to force it open.

Morris was arrested on suspicion of burglary, criminal trespass and criminal damage and booked into Pinal County Jail.
