Marsh: Why I’m endorsing Manfredi for re-election

I’ll be brief. We need to keep Vince Manfredi on Council. Here’s my thinking.

On Council, we each take on assignments, projects, duties that fit with our capabilities, experience, availability, education, etc.

For me, I’m the oldest on the team so I get to work with the seniors, with the Senior Advisory Committee, the Senior Center, the Senior Info Expo, and so forth. And, as a retired engineer, I get to work on technical issues, like our city’s water supply and county and state water committees and I keep an eye on water legislation.

Vince Manfredi is very focused on transportation, especially roads, parkways, and highways. Over the past several years, he has traveled all over the state attending regional and state transportation meetings, and he has established a reputation as a key contributor on all the relevant committees. He has working relationships with all the key players. Vince played key roles in getting the 347 widening projects planned and funded. I can honestly say we wouldn’t be where we are today on the 347 without Vince’s hard work and creative thinking.

Vince is already working on getting more and better transportation connectivity between Maricopa and the outside world. We need his experience, his knowledge, his relationships, his creativity, and his persistence to get the next rounds of projects going. We need to complete the Sonoran Desert Parkway. We need east and west loop roads north of the city limits off the 347. We need a direct connection from east Maricopa to I-10 and Sacaton and Florence, our county seat. We need a direct connection from west Maricopa north to the 202. We need Vince to continue his work on getting these results.

We need Vince Manfredi on City Council. We need your vote.

The idea of a third space is a gathering spot that isn’t work or home. Think a place like the cozy Central Perk coffee shop in "Friends" or the bar where everybody knows your name in "Cheers." Maricopa, what’s your favorite third space?
