2 dead in SR238 crash on Saturday

Two people were killed Saturday afternoon in a crash on State Route 238.

A third victim in the two-vehicle crash at South 99th Avenue in Mobile was flown by helicopter to an area trauma center, according to Christopher Bolinger, deputy chief with the City of Maricopa Fire/Medical Department.

The accident occurred just before 1:50 p.m. and road remained closed in both directions as of 4 p.m., according to the State Department of Public Safety.

It was the second fatal accident on SR238 in nine days.

On the night of March 11, a 19-year-old man died in a collision at Ralston Road. Five others were injured.

On Thursday, a semi with a load of trash went off the SR238 road and flipped, dumping trash and closing the road for several hours.
