Correction: An earlier version of this story stated Murphy Road would be closed Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. City of Maricopa spokesperson Monica Williams clarified only the stretch north of Honeycutt Road will be closed.
Eastside commuters will need to plan for a road closure later this week.
Murphy Road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday for a paving project, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The project is being led by the transportation department and the City of Maricopa.
Drivers may use Hartman Road instead, which runs parallel to Murphy Road while crews complete work. Drivers should also allow for extra travel time and use caution when approaching construction zones.
Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Is anybody going to talk about the fact that our native american “friends” physically blocked Murphy Road a while back? I guess they didn’t like non-natives using that road, however they certainly get to use any road anywhere in the state! Not exactly the sort of reciprocity you’d expect from a friend.
