Burrito Express to open inside Circle K ‘next week’

Burrito Express is finally rolling into Maricopa.

The Tempe-based chain announced that next week it will begin serving handmade burritos from its newest location inside Circle K on Honeycutt and Porter Roads.

In a post on X this morning, Burrito Express said it wanted help building anticipation ahead of a January opening.

“Need the homies to retweet and help us spread the word!!!! We should be slanging burritos by next week in MARICOPA,” read a portion of the Wednesday post.

InMaricopa has contacted Burrito Express for an exact opening date.

The restaurant was finalizing setup when reporters peeked inside this afternoon. A hiring sign sat outside Circle K.

The metro Phoenix chain first showed interest in coming to Maricopa in June when it submitted paperwork to the city’s development services department. At that time, a facilities coordinator for Circle K’s corporate offices said the project was moving along quickly.

“I believe this site will be starting construction mid-July or early August,” accurately predicted Jeremy McMurtry. “We are really at the mercy of the gas company.”

It’s also not the first attempt by Burrito Express to open a location inside a convenience store. The chain has five other “fast and fresh” locations, as the company calls them, inside East Valley Circle K stores in Gilbert and Queen Creek.
