Ground breaks at new subdivision in ‘the heart of Maricopa’

A new subdivision has broken ground southwest of the city’s commercial and residential core. Palomino Ridge will bring the construction of 226 homes between the Maricopa Meadows and the Union Pacific Railroad.

Silt fences, a water tank and freshly overturned dirt filled the lot northeast of McDavid Road and Hogenes Boulevard where the 66-acre development is being built. The lots range from 40 to 45 feet wide. The builder is Jacksonville, Fla.-based Dream Finders Homes, which made its Maricopa foray in Rancho Mirage.

Not to be confused with Palomino Ranch — another new housing development just outside city limits on Papago Road — Palomino Ridge will be developed by Rust Land Management of Phoenix.

The project moved through planning and zoning early in 2022 and was approved by the city council in November. Other planned developments in the area include the 372-acre Hogenes Farms, a Calvary Chapel at the bygone recycling center and the Green Road overpass and loop.

“Rust Land Management is proud to partner with Dream Finders Homes on a new residential development … located in the heart of Maricopa City,” the developer said on LinkedIn last week. “As site development kicks off, our team is overseeing land development with precision and efficiency, ensuring the groundwork is set for a vibrant new neighborhood.”

InMaricopa has contacted Rust Land Management with additional questions about the project but did not hear back by publication time.
