Cops seek Cricket store thief who stuffed iPhone in his pants

Maricopa Police Department is investigating a theft at the Cricket Wireless store in the Maricopa Market on John Wayne Parkway.

Marcelo Nordenflycht tipped us off in the InMaricopa Facebook group today around 1 p.m.

He said that a man walked into the store, grabbed an iPhone 16 — the new model released Sept. 20 — from the display and left without paying. Surveillance images attached appeared to show the man stuffing the cell phone into his pants.

“MPD is currently working on a theft report at this location,” confirmed department spokesperson Monica Williams. “A male subject did steal a phone and left the store.”

The thief is described as a Black male who was wearing red sneakers, khaki pants, a blue and grey hooded sweatshirt with red head ware. He was also wearing a backpack.

Nordenflycht said in the post that the man was riding a bicycle and asked for anyone with any information to reach out to him or MPD.
