UPDATE: No injuries in crash that blocked northbound lanes of John Wayne Parkway

UPDATE 9:44 a.m., Sept. 16, 2026: No injuries were reported in a single-vehicle crash on John Wayne Parkway this morning. 

A Maricopa police spokesperson told InMaricopa the SUV drove across the median and into the sidewalk between Desert Cedars Drive and Honeycutt Avenue. The road was blocked until 9:20 a.m. to clear the vehicle and gravel.

ORIGINAL STORY 8:22 a.m., Sept. 16, 2026: A crash is blocking the right two northbound lanes of John Wayne Parkway near Desert Cedar Avenue Wednesday morning.

The crash was reported around 7:50 a.m. just north of the Desert Cedar intersection and before the hospital, according to initial reports.

Photos from the scene show a damaged SUV on the side of the roadway and a Maricopa police vehicle at the scene.

It is unclear whether anyone was injured or what caused the crash.
