Maricopa residents will have the chance to learn more about State Route 347’s upgrades during an open house Wednesday, June 17.
The Arizona Department of Transportation will host the event at Maricopa City Hall from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., according to a press release. Presentations are scheduled for 5:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.
The city of Maricopa will also livestream the event on YouTube and Facebook for residents unable to attend.
The SR 347 Improvement Project will widen a 14-mile stretch between Interstate 10 and Maricopa’s city limits, adding a third lane in each direction. Other improvements include pavement rehabilitation, new grade-separated interchanges at Riggs Road and Mammoth Way, and intersection improvements at Casa Blanca and Maricopa Roads.
ADOT is partnering with the Gila River Indian Community, Maricopa Association of Governments, the city of Maricopa and Pinal County on this $396 million project.
Residents looking to share transportation concerns about SR 347 and other roads will also have an opportunity the night before.
ADOT will host its Next Move virtual listening tour at 6 p.m. June 16, where Director Jennifer Toth will lead an interactive feedback session and demonstrate an online mapping tool to leave location-specific comments.

100% of southbound 347 traffic becomes JWP traffic. JWP cannot efficiently handle the load we currently have. Traffic backs up to the near the cement plant now. The additional lane will just make the problem worse. Until the city council addresses the problem by constructing an outer loop before the entry to the city or increase capacity of JWP or both out commute will still take as long. But hey, we might have a $100 million park to think about while we sit bumper to bumper 5 miles out of town.
Vote for a change in the way our city’s future is headed.
At what point does the land become available for a loop road? Both East and West of the 347 is GRIC land coming into town. Wonder if the City has had those conversations with GRIC on the past? Do you know, or are you just throwing around shit?
I didn’t expect an informed response by the way.
