Six months after Lowe’s Home Improvement broke ground at Maricopa’s South Bridge Marketplace, the Mooresville, N.C.-based big-box store is narrowing its sights on an opening date.
When can Maricopans expect to start shopping?
On Friday, InMaricopa posted a Facebook reel of construction crews installing giant signage on the façade. The video quickly grabbed 60,000 views as Maricopa residents flocked to the comments claiming they had inside knowledge of the store’s opening date.
Tina DiPietrantonio-Stapleton, a Maricopa Meadows resident, said she interviewed for a job at Lowe’s last week. During the interview, a hiring manager told her the store would open in mid-July. Peggie Jonas, a current Lowe’s employee who lives in Rancho El Dorado, said with certainty the store would open July 17.
A corporate spokesperson for Lowe’s set the record straight today.
“The ETA is late July, but I want to stress that this is always subject to change,” Michael Allinger told InMaricopa.
The Home Depot’s fiercest competitor first announced its intention to expand into Maricopa in late 2023.
Construction began several months later than developers initially hoped — in November instead of early last summer — but progress has been steady. (The Home Depot opened in Maricopa in September.)
Builders have been completing the exterior construction in recent weeks. The city also recently awarded Lowe’s a 94,000-square-foot commercial racking system permit valued at $175,000.
