A 36-year-old Rancho Mirage man is facing multiple felony charges after a 15-year-old Wyoming girl was reported missing and found with him in South Dakota, according to the South Dakota attorney general’s office.
Dalton Renollet was arrested Monday after South Dakota Highway Patrol troopers stopped the vehicle he was driving on Interstate 90 in the southeastern part of the state.
The girl was reported abducted from Sundance, Wyo. She was safely recovered, authorities said.
Wyoming authorities initially believed Renollet was taking the girl to Arizona, but license plate reader technology located his vehicle in South Dakota. The vehicle was stopped less than an hour after authorities were notified.
Renollet was charged in Aurora County in South Dakota with one count of sexual contact with a minor. Additional charges are expected in Wyoming.
The Aurora County State’s Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the South Dakota case. An arraignment is scheduled for Sept. 30.
