(First InMaricopa) A significant law enforcement presence in Hidden Valley late this morning stemmed from a domestic violence call that ended with a suspect taken into custody after a roughly three-hour search.

Around noon, InMaricopa received reader tips about what appeared to be a massive response of two dozen marked units along Amarillo Valley Road just south of Clayton Road.

By about 12:30 p.m., reporters observed dozens of law enforcement vehicles lining Amarillo Valley. The roadway was blocked at Clayton Road by a Pinal County Sheriff’s Office deputy. Nearby residents reported hearing yelling, and large groups of deputies were seen congregating on the far side of a cotton field along Clayton Road.

According to Sam Salzwedel, spokesperson for the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, the response began shortly before 9 a.m.

“PCSO received a call about a domestic violence incident in progress in the 48900 block of Whirly Bird Road in Hidden Valley,” Salzwedel told InMaricopa. “When deputies arrived, the suspect ran away and hid on the property. The man was under investigation for a previous domestic violence incident and had a warrant for his arrest.”
