A Maricopa Meadows man faces three misdemeanor charges after a welfare check turned violent earlier this week.
Police arrived at a home on Sheridan Road around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday after a neighbor reported someone was screaming, “F*ck the police, I will kill them all,” in a house all day.
Upon their arrival, officers spotted an agitated 41-year-old Kawika Leongneefuk standing at the front door, according to a probable cause statement. He proceeded to “yell and scream” at the officers.
A resident inside the home shared text messages with officers documenting Leongneefuk’s progressing anger through the day. This included a message to a family member reading, “He’s getting crazy now” and “He keeps saying ‘F*ck your f*ggot God’ to the kids.”
Leongneefuk did not listen to officers when they asked him “multiple times to get on the floor.” Police unsuccessfully shot at him with pepper balls, then struggled to arrest him.
Medics sent Leongneefuk to Exceptional Community Hospital for medical treatment. After he was discharged, police booked him into the Pinal County jail on charges of disorderly conduct, criminal nuisance and resisting arrest.
He faces a year and a half in jail.
It’s not the first time Leongneefuk has been arrested for a domestic disturbance.
The Maricopa Meadows resident was charged with disorderly conduct and unlawfully discharging a weapon after a day-long argument with his wife three years ago. Leongneefuk allegedly grabbed a handgun while leaving his house, tripped and accidentally pulled the trigger, he told police.
