Maricopa Unified School District Governing Board will conduct a work study June 14 on OPENGATE, a weapon detection system aimed at enhancing the safety of students and staff.
The metal detectors are designed to automatically screen individuals, as well as their backpacks and their bags, for firearms and other dangerous items.
After the work session, the board will hold its regular meeting and further discuss campus safety and student discipline, for which MUSD staff review policies and procedures monthly.
