Neighborhood kids battle it out with gel blasters

As the sun set over Homestead last month, the HOA’s central park came alive with glowing ammo and kids darting back and forth. A pop-up gel blaster battle transformed the green space into a neon-lit playground.

Blast Action Mobile hosted the Glow Ball Battle pop-up event, drawing about 30 kids. Armed with glowing blasters that fired biodegradable water beads, they ducked behind inflatable neon bunkers and pelted newly made opponents with the squishy ammo.

Richard McBride, owner of BAM and a Homestead resident, said the company hosts both daytime and nighttime matches for birthdays and family gatherings. He also plans to bring the event to other neighborhood parks on a regular basis.

“It’s a little something extra the kids can look forward to,” he said. “We just want the kids to come out and have a good time.”
