An 18-year-old was arrested after Maricopa police say he sliced his girlfriend with broken glass in anger early Sunday morning, hours after Saturday night’s prom.
Jacobi O. Lamptey was booked after a reported stabbing incident in The Lakes at Rancho El Dorado around 3 a.m. May 10, according to a probable cause statement filed in Western Pinal Justice Court.
Police said the victim told officers Lamptey became upset after learning she had been speaking with another male while attending a party at a local public park on Bolivia Street. She identified Lamptey as her boyfriend through a prom photograph, according to the court document.
The victim told police Lamptey confronted her about the male she had been speaking with when Lamptey was accidentally bumped, causing a liquor bottle he was holding to fall and shatter.
Police said Lamptey picked up broken pieces of glass and threw them at her, causing multiple lacerations.
The victim suffered a laceration about 4 inches long and 2 inches wide that extended nearly to the bone, a smaller laceration to her chest and a laceration to the right side of her cheekbone about 2 inches long and one-half inch wide, according to the probable cause statement.
She received multiple stitches for her injuries at Exceptional Community Hospital.
Lamptey was later found during a separate call for service in which a reporting party said someone had thrown shoes and a rock at their residence, according to police.
Officers said they detained Lamptey after observing signs of intoxication, including a strong odor of alcohol. Police said Lamptey consented to a preliminary breath test, which indicated a blood alcohol concentration of .196.
Police said the victim later identified Lamptey as the person who threw the glass and caused her injuries. Officers said they were able to positively identify Lamptey through the prom photograph and took him into custody.
Lamptey faces charges including aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and minor in possession of alcohol.

He’s definitely not going to be her boyfriend after this!
Add immaturity, liquor and some insecurity and this is what you get! This ‘man’ definitely deserves some serious jail time and time to really consider what his poor decisions did for him, let alone the young lady he caused some serious trauma and pain to.
