Drivers who use State Route 347 and Riggs Road should plan for delays on Sunday while utility crews work at the intersection.

The Arizona Department of Transportation has notified the City of Maricopa of intermittent full closures planned at the intersection of SR 347 and Riggs Road. Closures will happen near milepost 185, from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 17.

The closures are expected to last up to 15 minutes at a time.

Utility crews will be working throughout the day on overhead power lines and traffic signals at the intersection. The work is needed to prepare for the SR 347 Improvement Project, which is scheduled to begin construction this summer.

Drivers on SR 347 and Riggs Road should be prepared to stop, expect delays, allow extra travel time, and use caution near work crews.
