It’s been a long time coming, but Maricopa’s planned family entertainment center finally has a name.
The planned indoor-outdoor family entertainment center near Copper Sky Regional Park will be called MADCAPS, according to a press release issued today.
The latest update also provides a first look at renderings of the two-story venue, which features a dining area, arcade, outdoor seating, miniature golf and a go-kart track.
The venue is designed as a brighter, upscale version of similar family entertainment centers such as Fat Cats or Main Event and will include attractions such as duckpin bowling, miniature golf, karting, a full arcade and a mixed-reality arena.
“A madcap is zany, unconventional, funny and sometimes pleasantly unexpected — a perfect representation of what guests will experience at Maricopa’s premier entertainment venue,” said Dan Price, brand marketing director of Real Fig Advertising and Marketing, which is developing the MADCAPS brand.
The venue was first announced in January 2025 by former Maricopa resident Scott Bartle, who wanted to “help satisfy a decades-long need” for family entertainment in the city.
“Maricopa needs this. We need safe, fun activities for kids and families in town. We need entertainment that doesn’t require yet another roundtrip on [State Route] 347,” he told InMaricopa at the time.
In November, Bartle purchased 7.2 acres of land immediately west of Copper Sky for approximately $2.24 million. The site is adjacent to La Quinta Inn at John Wayne Parkway and Martin Luther King Boulevard.
Preliminary site and floor plans were unveiled two months later.
Creating “a warm and inviting environment” was intentional, said Doug Wilkerson, partner at Dynamic Designs.
“From the moment you walk into MADCAPS, you’ll experience an open and airy interior with earth-tone finishes, subtle textures and abundant natural light — creating a casual, laid-back atmosphere that can be enjoyed by everyone,” he said.
Bartle said he hopes the entertainment center adds to the city’s tourism initiatives.
“MADCAPS is going to give Maricopans the quality entertainment and dining experiences they deserve,” he said. “And it will give people from across the region a fantastic new reason to visit the great city of Maricopa.”
