A 35-year-old woman was arrested last week after allegedly striking her sister’s garage door and parked vehicle in Senita before fleeing, causing more than $8,000 in damages.
Officers responded June 1 to a home on Maricopa Avenue after a homeowner reported a vehicle struck her garage door and parked gray SUV before driving away, according to a probable cause statement.
The homeowner identified the suspect as her sister, Yunis Johnson, and described the vehicle as a green Audi with New York license plates. She provided text messages allegedly exchanged with Johnson following the incident, including messages in which she apologized for damaging the garage door.
A neighbor also told officers they saw a vehicle and a woman matching the descriptions at the property around 8 a.m.
Officers found the Audi the following day with matching front-end damage and paint transfer, according to a probable cause statement.
Johnson was arrested June 2 on charges of criminal damage and leaving the scene of an accident. She could face two years in prison.
