More than 2,200 ED3 customers in and around Maricopa’s Rancho El Dorado neighborhood lost power this afternoon, according to Electrical District No. 3.
The utility posted a community alert at 5:16 p.m. saying crews were en route and would begin troubleshooting “as soon as possible.” ED3 did not publicly identify the cause of the outage or provide an estimated restoration time.
The outage appeared to affect Rancho El Dorado and nearby areas on the city’s north side.
A post circulating on a neighborhood app claimed the outage may have been tied to contractor work near utility infrastructure, but that information had not been independently confirmed by InMaricopa as of publication, and ED3 had not publicly verified a cause.
InMaricopa reached out to ED3 for more information.
This is a breaking story, check back for updates.

Thanks for this, guys. We had no information on what was happening until you posted this story.
That was fast, I barely had time to get pissed at ED3 before this article popped up! 🤣
will ed3 come clean about outage or gloss over it?
My Xbox and TV shut off when this happened. I was on call with some friends. It was funny.
