Driver who toppled streetlight, fled scene wanted by cops

Maricopa police are investigating a hit-and-run that caused “significant” property damage near the intersection of Rancho El Dorado Parkway and Scott Drive last night.

According to police, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a streetlight, knocking it down and causing substantial damage. The crash occurred around 10 p.m. A car bumper was left at the scene but was removed before officers arrived.

Investigators believe the bumper came from a 2018 to 2020 Honda Accord, likely silver, gray or pewter in color.

Police issued a news release just after 6 p.m. today asking residents to review any available security camera footage and to report any sightings of a vehicle matching that description, likely missing a front bumper. They’re also encouraging the community to be on the lookout for any suspicious vehicles or activity in the area.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Maricopa Police Department’s non-emergency line at 520-568-3673.
