Reckless driver speeds 100mph the wrong way past cop on MCG: video

Maricopa Police Department is looking for a dangerous driver who put the community at risk last night when he sped alarmingly fast down Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway — past a cop — but got away.

Police received the report at 9:25 p.m. after an eastbound gray SUV crossed the double-yellow line near Santa Rosa Parkway and zoomed at an estimated 100 miles per hour the wrong way through the 50-mile-per-hour zone, according to witness testimony.

The SUV “was last seen entering the Glennwilde subdivision,” Chief Mark Goodman told InMaricopa today. “Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.”

Dash camera footage shows the SUV kicking up dirt as it passed a line of law-abiding motorists in a left turn lane and through the median. As the SUV passes the cam driver, a police cruiser is seen driving west.

“Fortunately, there were no injuries as a result of the incident,” Goodman said. “Motorists are reminded to be patient while driving, to pay attention to speed limits, and to show consideration for others.”

Dangerous or unsafe driving can be reported via 911 or, if appropriate, by calling the police department’s non-emergency number at 520-568-3673.

Editor’s note: The timestamp displayed on the dashcam footage is not accurate.
