SUV spins out, hits semi, shuts down SR 347 going north

Northbound State Route 347 was closed temporarily after a two-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck around 9:25 a.m. this morning.

Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesperson Bart Graves told InMaricopa the SUV versus semi-truck crash occurred near North Sacate Road.

“The vehicle spun out, hit the semi-truck and is blocking one of the lanes,” Graves said.

Graves said there were no injuries reported. Witnesses at the scene said a Gila River ambulance responded at 9:30 a.m.

The witnesses said a small silver SUV and a larger maroon SUV appeared disabled by the roadside at the crash site. It appears the silver car had crashed into the orange Reliable Carriers Inc. tractor-trailer.

Graves said the crash was initially blocking both northbound lanes but that the vehicles had been moved and the road reopened at 9:37 a.m.

He added that there was a tow truck responding that was capable of hauling the semi.

It appears that although the crash was cleared that traffic heading out of the city toward Interstate 10 is still backed up for miles.
