A driver swerving on John Wayne Parkway turned into a DUI and drug arrest last weekend.  

Maricopa police spotted a driver making an unsafe lane change and swerving Sept. 5 around 3:20 p.m. near John Wayne and Sonoran Desert parkways, according to a probable cause statement. 

Officers pulled over the driver, 59-year-old Jaime Flores, and asked to search his vehicle. He consented with the caveat they might find a friend’s drug pipe inside. 

Police allegedly found a pipe used for methamphetamine under the driver’s seat floor mat and two small bags containing a white, powdery substance. 

Flores told police it was methamphetamine, according to the probable cause statement.  

Flores had three prior DUI charges, including one aggravated DUI offense within the previous 84 months. 

He was arrested and booked into Pinal County Adult Detention Facility on suspicion of aggravated DUI, dangerous drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
