With red, orange and green stripes, 7-Eleven proposed on White & Parker

Some convenience store regulars may thank heaven for Maricopa’s first 7-Eleven.

It would also be the first commercial operation built on White and Parker Road.

Scottsdale-based De Rito Partners Development Inc. proposes placing the 4,600-square-foot convenience store and gas station on 1.61acres at the southwest corner of White and Parker and Honeycutt Roads, according to a pre-application request to the City of Maricopa. The site would include store parking and six gas-pump islands.

A pre-application basically shows the company’s interest in building the convenience store on the site but does not guarantee it will be built.

“Development of a gas station convenience store with quick service convenience needs will service the needs of the workforce in the community and the projected traffic along Honeycutt and continued growth of residential and business-education north-south along White and Parker,” De Rito Partners pre-application said.

Another 7-Eleven was proposed way back in July on John Wayne Parkway. It has not been built.

There, the Texas-based convenience store giant known for its Big Gulps and Big Bites submitted pre-application paperwork to the city’s planning department last week for a 4,600-square-foot store, gas pumps and an “auto service pad” on the southwest corner of John Wayne Parkway and Honeycutt Avenue.

In March, Super Star Car Wash expressed interest in building a location on a parcel just south of the proposed John Wayne Parkway 7-Eleven, but the business has not moved forward with construction or paperwork.

The closest 7-Eleven store to Maricopa today is 20 miles north at Kyrene and Warner Roads in Tempe.
