UPDATE 1:39 p.m., Nov. 22, 2024: DPS spokesperson Bart Graves confirmed three vehicles were involved.
“A motorist reported to responding troopers that his brakes failed causing him to strike another vehicle,” Graves told InMaricopa.
Graves said that then caused the two cars to hit another vehicle.
There were only minor injuries reported, and no one was transported to the hospital.
ORIGINAL STORY 1:28 p.m., Nov. 22, 2024: A crash in the southbound lanes on State Route 347 blocked traffic for almost an hour today.
The crash occurred at 12:06 p.m. in the right lanes on SR 347 near Riggs Road, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Based on ADOT’s traffic cameras, there appears to have been three cars involved in the crash including a silver sedan and two white larger vehicles. The sedan’s front end appears to have been damaged in the crash.
Law enforcement and a tow truck were on the scene at 12:36 p.m., and was cleared and lanes were opened by 1 p.m., according to ADOT.
Injuries are unknown.
InMaricopa reached out to the Arizona Department of Public Safety for more information regarding the crash, but they were unavailable for immediate comment.
