Dust season is here, and residents can check regular air-quality forecasts specific to western Pinal County.
The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality provides regular air quality forecasts, including ozone, PM10 and PM2.5 levels.
PM10, commonly tied to dust, is often the main concern in the Maricopa area. When air quality reaches the moderate range, most people can continue normal activities. However, children, older adults and people with asthma, heart disease or respiratory conditions may want to limit heavy outdoor activity.
Residents should remain aware of blowing dust, drive carefully in dusty conditions and avoid activities that create unnecessary dust.
