People with unresolved cases at Western Pinal Justice Court may soon get a call to appear before a judge.
The court it will begin reviewing older cases and scheduling Order to Show Cause hearings next week, according to a press release. The hearings are used to address unresolved issues, such as failures to comply with payment plans or complete court–ordered community restitution.
Judge Patricia Glover described the notices as routine check-ins rather than a cause for alarm
“It’s kind of a, ‘Hey, check in with the court, let’s find out what’s going on and put together a solution,'” she told InMaricopa.
Anyone who ignores the scheduled hearing could face a warrant, the release stated.
The court did not confirm how many cases could be affected.
Residents who believe they may have an unresolved matter with the court are encouraged to contact the courthouse before a hearing is scheduled.
The review comes as the court works to keep up with a rapidly growing caseload driven by western Pinal County’s population growth.
Glover said the court has already filled two previously vacant clerk positions and is seeking two additional clerks and court administrators.
The court anticipates more than 9,600 traffic citations and criminal case filings this year, compared to more than 7,900 filings in 2025. The court also expectedmore than 5,500 civil filings, a roughly 22% increase from last year. Glover said the numbers reflect the area’s population growth.
To expand capacity, the court has grown its hearing schedule from two days a week to four or five, covering evictions, arraignments, pretrial conferences, small claims and trials.
“We make sure all of our clerks are able to do everything,” Glover said.
