(First InMaricopa) Federal agents with Homeland Security Investigations descended on a home in Maricopa’s Glennwilde neighborhood this afternoon, backed by snipers and a SWAT truck in what appeared to be a large-scale operation.
The action unfolded just before 12:45 p.m. on Chimayo Drive near Ventana Lane, where multiple unmarked vehicles with emergency lights surrounded a home in the 42400 block. Witnesses said agents used a battering ram to breach the front door of a home as Tempe police officers with rifles rushed inside.
No police tape was posted, but the scene was swarming with agents in tactical gear, including snipers stationed along Honeycutt Road with long guns aimed over a brick wall. A neighbor told InMaricopa he suspected something was wrong the day before, when a landscaping crew laid gravel at the residence.

By 1 p.m., the SWAT vehicle had left the scene. Maricopa police officers later arrived and were seen conferring with federal agents in front of the house.
Glennwilde resident Susan Russell told InMaricopa she was driving near Porter Road and Honeycutt Avenue when she saw the convoy heading into the neighborhood, led by an armored vehicle.
“They stopped traffic at the entrance so all the unmarked cars could go in behind the battering ram,” Russell said. “Most of the people they’re arresting are not illegals — and there’s no such thing as illegals. They’re undocumented. This overuse of power is really pissing me off.”

She said she shouted at the agents, calling them “traitors” and telling them they “should be ashamed.”
“It’s horrifying,” she added. “I’ve seen plenty of this on social media, but to see it in real life is just so sad … just horrendous.”
Federal authorities removed all visible security cameras from the home, including Ring doorbell devices, according to reporters on the scene.

Maricopa police spokesperson Monica Williams said federal investigators asked the department to provide a marked patrol car for perimeter security while plainclothes officers searched the home. “We have no connection to the warrant that was served,” Willaims said just before 2 p.m.
InMaricopa has contacted Homeland Security Investigations and the Mesa Police Department, which led the SWAT team, for comment. Phoenix police also responded as part of the SWAT team.
