A new viral website that allows users to paint pixels of a world map is taking the internet by storm. Maricopa is no exception, with some interesting art pieces portrayed by people who know the city best.
The trending website, wplace.live, allows users to paint a pixel anywhere on a world map, every 30 seconds. Large cities all across the globe are covered in pixel art of memes and pop culture.
Art representing each Valley city can be found in the chaos. Logos for the Phoenix Suns, Sky Harbor International Airport and the city logo can be found within Phoenix city limits. In Tempe, Arizona State University art is prominent.
But what about little ol’ Maricopa?
Like the rest, we have video game characters like Genji from Overwatch or Sans from Undertale covering local neighborhoods. Sanrio’s jester-clad Kuromi, Bill Cipher from the TV show “Gravity Falls” and several “My Little Pony” characters are also meshed in.
But there are some other art pieces we found in Maricopa that only people who live here would understand. Here are some of our favorites:
“i hate u 347”
This message is pretty simple and straight to the point about what a lot of Maricopans are thinking about nobody’s favorite roadway. It’s not the only 347 message.

That’s Maricopa
The city of Maricopa’s logo can be found nestled between other art pieces in Glennwilde just north of The Home Depot. Next to the famous brown “M”, you can find a pixel art barbershop pole and a character from the game Among Us.

Road reptiles
We’re going to leave this one up to reader interpretation. Someone wrote “347 SNAKES!” and drew dozens of colorful pixelart snakes slithering northbound on State Route 347.

Cobblestone Cowboy
A cowboy wearing a red bandana around his neck and a cowboy hat can be found just northwest of John Wayne Parkway and Smith Enke Road. He’s got a cute little smile too.

Explosion on SR347
Yup, someone drew mushroom cloud explosion on State Route 347. ‘Nuff said.
Shrimp van shoutout
Everyone knows the seafood van that sits on SR 347 and Riggs Road. At that intersection, an orange snake must have been misidentified by another user who wrote “AYO IS THAT A SHRIMP???”

InMaricopa
But our favorite art piece in the city was done by this reporter, who spent an ungodly amount of time waiting for 210 pixels (don’t tell my boss). The InMaricopa logo sits near John Wayne Parkway and Honeycutt Road.
