Adriana Carpio-Solis, the longtime deputy city clerk for Maricopa who lives in The Villages at Rancho El Dorado, began her new role yesterday as city clerk for Casa Grande.

Carpio-Solis, who received the City of Maricopa’s mid-management Award of Excellence in 2017, trained alongside outgoing Casa Grande City Clerk Gloria Lejia since March 28. Lejia officially retired yesterday.

The city clerk plays a vital role in ensuring transparency and efficiency in city governance. Carpio-Solis’s responsibilities will include providing notices for all city council, board and commission meetings, maintaining official records such as ordinances and resolutions, passport issuance, elections facilitations and fulfilling duties as required by the city charter and law.

The selection process for this position was conducted through a national recruitment following Lejia’s retirement announcement. Caprio-Solis was selected after an extensive search and interview process that included five finalists.

Carpio-Solis had served as deputy city clerk for Maricopa since 2013. She holds a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Los Angeles, and has earned multiple certifications, including Certified Municipal Clerk, Certified Municipal Election Official, Certified State of Arizona Election Official and Passport Acceptance Agent.

“We are excited to welcome Adriana to Casa Grande and look forward to her leadership in the City Clerk’s Office,” said Casa Grande City Manager Larry Rains. “Her extensive experience and commitment to municipal service make her an excellent fit for this position.”

Lejia had served as a city clerk for 35 years, 27 of them in Casa Grande. “We wish her all the best in her well-earned retirement,” said a March 28 press release from Casa Grande.
