A man accused of trying to break into a vape shop with a rock was found wandering in a nearby parking lot with a backpack full of tools, according to a probable cause statement.  

Police say Ian Estes, 19, attempted to break into Cloud Slingers Smoke and Vape shop around 3 a.m. Sept 11 around 3 a.m. He was found in the parking lot at a nearby Taco Bell. 

When officers searched Estes, they found a pair of gloves and a rock in his pocket, as well as a backpack with a hammer, three screwdrivers, a box knife and a fire extinguisher, according to the probable cause statement. 

Estes admitted he tried to break into the vape shop with a brick as well as a nearby office a few hours earlier in search of “a warm place to sleep.” He also told police he had the tools in his backpack because “he watches numerous 911 documentary shows.” 

Officers found another large rock near the front of the vape shop and damage to the front door.  

He was arrested and transported to Pinal County Jail on suspicion of burglary in the third degree, possession of burglary tools, and criminal damage.
