Desert Sun Performing Arts is headed to the national stage after a successful competition season.
The Maricopa dance studio will travel to Lake Tahoe July 18 to 23 to compete in the Starbound Nationals Dance Competition after numerous wins and achievements this year. Located at 19756 N. Maricopa Road, DSPA has served as Maricopa’s top dance studio for more than 20 years.
“DSPA dancers received numerous Diamond, Elite Diamond, Double Platinum, Elite Gold, Platinum, and High Gold adjudications, along with dozens of Top 10 overall placements in solos, duos/trios, small groups, and large groups.” read a press release from DSPA. “The studio also earned standout recognition for artistry, storytelling, commitment, elegance, partnering, emotional connection and performance quality.”
Dancers earned numerous awards from previous Starbound competitions, including the Studio Spirit Award and he Improv Battle Title. DSPA dancers also received scholarships and special judges’ awards for performances.
Starbound, founded more than 30 years ago, hosts regional and national dance competitions across the country. It bills itself as the largest dance competition in the United States.
The studio will represent Maricopa at the national competition later this month as it looks to continue adding to its list of achievements.
