Maricopa Police Department is looking to provide business owners with more safety resources this month.
MPD will host a webinar for its Business Watch Program Thursday, July 23, from 10 to 11 a.m. The webinar is a chance for business owners to learn how they can help protect their businesses and the community.
City spokesperson Monica Williams said the department opted to host its webinar so local business owners and managers can “attend from the location of their choice without having to leave their business.”
This particular session will include how population growth trends, transportation issues and industrial development affect public safety. Williams said this topic was requested by business owners who attended previous sessions.
The webinar follows other community safety efforts by the department, including a neighborhood watch informational meeting last year and a House of Worship security training in February.
Presenters include MPD Chief Mark Goodman, Maricopa Fire & Medical Chief Brad Pitassi and Maricopa Chief Economic Strategy Officer Joshua Bowman.
Goodman said the program allows business owners to have “a direct connection to the police department and [know] who to call before a concern becomes a larger problem.”
Those interested in attending can reserve a spot and submit questions through the city website.
