Two-car crash blocks major JWP intersection

A crash on John Wayne Parkway blocked a busy intersection for nearly an hour tonight. There were no injuries.

First responders were dispatched to the two-car crash at the intersection of John Wayne Parkway and Edison Road at 8:55 p.m., according to Phoenix Regional Dispatch.

At the scene, a Cadillac sedan, with damage to its front, was disabled in the intersection. A Hyundai sedan, with damage to its passenger side, landed off the roadway.  Debris and motor fluids were in the road between the two cars.

“A car turning left onto Edison from northbound John Wayne Parkway failed to yield and collided with another car,” MPD spokesperson Monica Williams said.

There were two people involved in the crash. Neither were transported to the hospital, she added.

The crash blocked two southbound lanes on John Wayne Parkway, and most traffic on the Edison Road lanes on the west side of the intersection.

Crews are clearing the cars and spilled fluids out of the road. All lanes are expected to reopen before 10 p.m., Williams said.
