2 elementary schoolers on scooter hit by car, hospitalized in Glennwilde

Two elementary school-aged children were riding a scooter when they were struck by a vehicle in Glennwilde this morning.

The vehicle was at driving at low speed and hit the scooter in the street, said Maricopa Police Department spokesperson Monica Williams.

The reported pedestrian collision occurred at approximately 7:39 a.m. at the intersection of Stonegate Road and Alan Stephens Parkway, about 270 yards west of A+ Charter School.

Emergency responders transported both children to a nearby hospital as a precaution. Williams confirmed that neither child sustained serious injuries.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
