A local behavioral health facility is planning to expand its services and its footprint in Maricopa.
New Dawn Behavioral Health wants to begin providing in-patient psychiatric care at its location at 18860 N. Maricopa Road, according to public records released yesterday.

The property includes a 3,700-square-foot single-family home built in 1973, which was sold in 2022 to the current owners for $1.1 million. The home sits within the city’s Heritage District, where it operated as a co-working space since 2023 through the Maricopa-based Forsyte Group.
The campus would share a wall with seven homes in the Alterra neighborhood to the south.
The preliminary site plans show a four-phase expansion beginning with the renovation of the home’s garage into a behavioral health residential facility. Future phases outline construction of 48 bedrooms surrounding a central courtyard, along with rooms for laundry, housekeeping, recreation, classrooms and dining. The final phase calls for a single-story psychiatric health facility building near the entrance.
Forsyte Group owner Ernest Amponsah told InMaricopa the plans are still being refined, but the goal is to bring “fully integrated behavioral health” to the city.
The facility “will have everything we need in the city,” Amponsah, a resident of The Villages, said today.
If approved, the project would mark the largest expansion of behavioral health infrastructure ever proposed in Maricopa.
