A report of alcohol on campus prompted an afternoon response from Maricopa police and fire crews at Heritage Academy.
Officers were called to the school on Heroes Way before 4:30 p.m. after receiving a report that a teenage student possibly brought alcohol to campus and offered it to another student, according to a public safety spokesperson.
Police later determined the same two teens possibly ingested an unknown substance they brought to campus.
Maricopa Fire and Medical Department paramedics evaluated both students, who were alert and conscious at the scene. One student was transported to a local hospital as a precaution, the spokesperson said.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not yet determined whether any charges will be filed. Both students are teens.
Calls to Heritage Academy were not immediately returned after school hours.
