There’s just one week left to hop aboard Copper Sky’s swan boats.

After 17 months, the city’s contract with Boat Rentals of America is ending for its pedal boat and surrey bike rentals. The company’s final day offering rentals will be Sunday, Aug. 30, according to a city spokesperson.

The city currently does not have plans to seek another operator, rent its own boats or current plans for the dock.

The decision was made by Boat Rentals of America, but a reason was not provided. While the city does not own or operate any boats, it has owned and rented out two Surrey bikes since 2022.

The boats were first announced in 2024 when the city installed an observation and floating pier on the western edge of Copper Sky’s lake. It was part of a nearly $800,000 enhancement project at Copper Sky, which included outdoor seating, entertainment options and interior improvements.

At the time, the city contemplated purchasing the boats, but the contract with Boat Rentals was confirmed when the city announced the boats’ maiden voyage in March 2025.
