The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sun Corridor proudly hosted its 2nd Annual Corks for a Cause: A Giving Tuesday Wine Tasting Event on December 2 at Mandy’s Wine Bar, and the Maricopa community showed up in full force. With overwhelming attendance and incredible sponsor backing, this year’s event was a resounding success.
Nearly 90 guests filled the venue, creating a lively and energetic atmosphere that contributed to raising an estimated $4,000 for Boys & Girls Clubs programs serving youth in Maricopa. Community members once again demonstrated their commitment by purchasing tickets, making donations, and showing up to celebrate a cause that directly strengthens local kids and families.
Generous support from event sponsors helped elevate the evening and reinforced the powerful partnership between the Boys & Girls Clubs and the Maricopa community.
Held on Giving Tuesday (which is the global day dedicated to generosity), the event gave attendees a meaningful way to give back locally while enjoying curated wine tastings, networking, and firsthand stories about the Club’s impact. Guests were also encouraged to support youth programs through Blue Door Giving, including opportunities eligible for the Arizona Tax Credit.
Maricopa Community Board President, Rusty Akers said, “Events like these make our mission possible. We’re grateful for every supporter who believes in the future of our youth and invests in the programs that help us succeed.”
With such strong enthusiasm for its second year, planning for the 2026 Corks for a Cause is already underway, with expectations of even greater community engagement.
“This year’s turnout exceeded our expectations,” said Patti Coutre, Maricopa Development Coordinator. “Our community once again proved how deeply they believe in the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sun Corridor and the youth we serve. Corks for a Cause has quickly become a beloved tradition, and we are thrilled to see it grow.”
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sun Corridor remains dedicated to inspiring and enabling young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. Community-supported events like Corks for a Cause are essential in fueling that mission.
