Firefighters quickly responded to a driveway car fire that scorched a Glennwilde home’s garage early this morning.

Maricopa Fire and Medical crews arrived at the home on the 42000 block of West Palmyra Lane just before 4 a.m., according to Phoenix Regional Dispatch.

Reporters on the scene observed a silver pickup truck in the driveway with severe fire damage to its engine compartment.

Scorch marks were also visible on the garage door and parts of the home’s front exterior. Fire crews used a rescue saw to cut the garage door off the home.

After extinguishing the fire, firefighters decontaminated themselves using their newly obtained StormStick — a detergent-based rinse system designed to remove particulates and soot from gear, which can contribute to occupational cancer.

“No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation,” MFMD spokesperson Monica Williams told InMaricopa.

This is a breaking story and InMaricopa will provide updates as more information becomes available.
