A Valley semi-truck driver nearly learned the hard way just how poorly some people drive in Maricopa.
Christian Rojo, a Phoenix manager for Los Angeles-based TJD Trucking, took to the Maricopa 347 Rants Facebook group with dash-cam footage his wife recorded on State Route 238 in a passing zone just west of North Rio Bravo Road.
The passing zone isn’t just a duo of comedic jugglers, it’s a stretch of yellow dashed lines where drivers can overtake slower traffic when the coast is clear.
“Coast is clear” being the keyword here.
The footage, dated yesterday at 2:16 p.m., depicts an eastbound Cadillac sedan driver who desperately needs a refresher course on the rules of the passing zone. Namely, that it’s best practice not to jump in front of a car barreling head-on at north of 60 miles per hour.
The Cadillac driver avoids the crash by inventing a bonus off-road passing lane in the dirt, then swerves all over both lanes, nearly causing a pileup.
The Cadillac overcorrects back onto the road and nearly hits the second semi, which slams on the brakes, setting off a trail of tire marks and smoke while swerving, before eventually recovering.
