Former mayor: Manfredi is a leader Maricopa can count on

Tony Smith

To the Editor,

Vincent Manfredi has spent more than a decade proving he is the kind of leader Maricopa can count on, and I am proud to offer my full support and endorsement once again for his reelection to the Maricopa City Council.

I first endorsed Vince in 2013 while I was serving on the Pinal County Board of Supervisors. Even then, it was clear he had the independence, work ethic, and commitment needed to serve this community well. Over the years, he has more than lived up to that expectation.

Maricopa has experienced tremendous growth and change, and Vince has been a steady, reliable voice throughout it all. He understands the challenges of a growing city and has consistently worked to balance responsible development with protecting residents’ interests.

Vince is a no-nonsense leader who tells people the truth directly and honestly. He has championed fiscal discipline, helped lower property tax rates, and supported continued investments in public safety, infrastructure, and long-term planning.

He has also been a strong advocate for transportation improvements, especially on State Route 347, working regionally to help move critical conversations forward.

Beyond City Hall, Vince has dedicated countless hours supporting schools, charities, and youth programs throughout Maricopa. He is accessible, engaged, and deeply committed to this community.

Maricopa has benefited from Vincent Manfredi’s leadership, and I strongly encourage voters to support his reelection to the City Council. Please join me in voting to re-elect Vince Manfredi to City Council this July.

  1. No one who is on the current counsel can be trusted.
They are the reason we drive in deadlock and only have .4 Hospital Beds per thousand residents.
All should have been investigated for kickbacks from realtors and construction companies.

      1. It’s really easy to get rid of some of the current politicians including the owner of this “publication”. Vote them out and let any possible investigation take its course.

    1. I’m not Manfredi nor Smith, but I’d say that you can still be Republican while not being MAGA.

  2. Local media owners running for office (e.g., city council, mayor, state legislature) often control the main source of news in smaller markets. This can lead to:
Favorable coverage for themselves and allies.
    Suppression of criticism.
Blurred lines between news and propaganda.
Reduced public trust and accountability in local government.

Many democracies have rules or ethical norms discouraging this.

    1. As you can see it happens right here with a former mayor endorsing the owner of this media outlet, a media outlet that that has had its new editor barred from attending candidate forums due to bias reporting and coverage of local events.

      1. The organizers of one event barred me from attending because they did not like a story I wrote two years ago. Every other candidate forum has welcomed me. Can’t win them all.

  3. Fair enough, I only know of the one candidate forum held recently you were asked not to attend.
