Residents of Hidden Valley, Stanfield and Thunderbird Farms will have a chance to get rid of unwanted household junk and debris at an annual free residential and alley cleanup event tomorrow and Saturday.
Hosted by Pinal County Supervisor Rich Vitiello (R-Maricopa) and Pinal County Development Services, the cleanup runs 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days at the county’s Hidden Valley Maintenance Yard. The address is 43910 W. Meadowview Road in Maricopa.
Here’s the deal:
Bring your unwanted trash, clutter and cleanup debris to the site, but be ready to show proof of residency. The event is only for residents of Hidden Valley, Stanfield and Thunderbird Farms, and they’re checking IDs at the gate. Bring a driver’s license and utility bill to make it easy.
What’s accepted: Bagged household trash, green waste like tree trimmings and grass, car batteries, tires, furniture, appliances, metal and debris from home improvement projects. Concrete is OK too, though no commercial loads are allowed, and some limitations may apply.
What’s not accepted: Don’t bring hazardous materials. That includes propane tanks, motor oil, paint, anti-freeze, gasoline, herbicides, pesticides, bio-hazard materials and any commercial or contractor waste.
County officials say the cleanup effort helps prevent illegal dumping, reduces fire risk and promotes safer, cleaner neighborhoods in rural areas. Vitiello has hosted similar events in the past to help residents who don’t have access to large-scale waste disposal.
“This is a great opportunity for residents to clean up their properties and neighborhoods at no cost,” he said. “Keeping communities clean is a shared responsibility, and events like this make it easier for families to get rid of large or difficult-to-dispose items.”
