Hidden Valley dad indicted for mercilessly beating his young daughter

A Pinal County grand jury indicted a Hidden Valley father on multiple child abuse charges after deputies say they obtained a video of the man mercilessly beating his young daughter at their Blade Drive home earlier this month.

Pinal County Sheriff’s Office arrested Anthoney Vincent Fragomeni, 26, Aug. 9 on charges of child abuse, aggravated assault, endangerment and disorderly conduct, according to a probable cause statement obtained by InMaricopa Thursday in response to a Freedom of Information Act request.

PCSO Deputy Lucas Wheeler reports he responded to Fragomeni’s home near Amarillo Valley and Century Roads at 12:44 p.m. where he witnessed a two-minute video of the alleged abuse.

The young daughter’s age is redacted in the police document, but reporters were able to determine she was no older than 9.

Wheeler reports he saw Fragomeni drag his daughter by her hair and throw her, “making her fall to the hard floor causing her to cry.” Fragomeni then struck her twice as she lay on the ground, “making her scream more.”

The strikes were described as forceful.

As the child tried to run to safety, Fragomeni was allegedly seen pursuing and striking her again “with enough force to cause her feet to come out from underneath her, hitting her head on the hard surface and screaming loudly.”

“A loud thud was heard when her head hit the surface,” Wheeler reports.

Lying on the ground once more, Wheeler observed Fragomeni strike his daughter again “on bare skin … using a windmill motion twice.”

As his daughter writhes in agony and tries to stand up, Wheeler says Fragomeni “places her on the ground, forcibly rolls her over and has his phone out appearing to take a picture.”

After she gets back on her feet, Fragomeni reportedly follows her again, reaching back “far” and striking her, causing her to fall on the floor yet another time. The deputy reports the girl’s feet “flew over her head and she hit her head again on the hard-surfaced floor, letting out a very loud and distressed scream.”

Another loud thud was heard.

“At no time in the video did I observe Anthoney check her status or provide any form of care,” Wheeler concludes.

During an interview with sheriff’s deputies, Fragomeni admitted to everything and said his daughter “didn’t deserve it,” according to the police report. He said he was “pissed off” because the child woke him up.

Fragomeni was indicted in Western Pinal Justice Court on two counts of child abuse Aug. 15. The case will proceed in Pinal County Superior Court.

Fragomeni bailed out of jail Aug. 23, PCSC records show.
