Maricopan to Fox News’ Jesse Watters: ‘Is that what Dems do?’

Jesse Watters, the Fox News host of Jesse Watters Primetime and a co-host of cable television’s highest-rated program The Five, gave one Maricopa resident a nod in the final minute of Tuesday night’s broadcast filmed in Midtown Manhattan.

“Let’s do some texts,” is how the primetime host introduces his recurring segment, “Watters’ Window,” in which he reads politically charged text messages sent by viewers during airtime such as, “I’d slap my mother for a third Trump term.”

A woman identified only as Rhonda from Maricopa, Ariz., was among a half-dozen lucky texters who got their 15 seconds of fame Nov. 26 when she built upon Watters’ nightly thesis that the Democratic Party is only transactionally motivated.

“I don’t go to someone’s softball game to secure a favor for later,” Rhonda told Watters in the text message. “Is that what Democrats do?”

Watters reacts on the air: “Yeah, that is kind of a fishy trade. Sounded like a quid pro quo.”

The segment drew mixed reactions from Rhonda’s neighbors in Maricopa.

“It’s not every day someone from our community makes it onto a nationwide TV program,” said Lonnie Speer, from Province.

Debbie O’Neal, from Senita, said, “I like him on The Five.”

Some were nonplussed about the appearance, like Homestead resident Jeff Swanson. When asked if he saw his neighbor’s text message on national TV, he said, “First, someone would actually have to watch Jesse Watters.”

James Todd, also from Homestead, replied, “Jessie who?”
