Got a car-loving dad? This Maricopa event may be worth a stop

If your dad’s happy place involves chrome and a little nostalgia, the Maricopa Community Center may have just the event for him.

The center will host its inaugural Dad’s Day Celebration next week, bringing classic and custom cars to Maricopa in a free community event.

The car show begins 10 a.m. June 16 at 41614 W. Smith-Enke Road. Participants will have vehicles judged on exterior condition, paint and finish, engine presentation and originality. Awards will be handed out for Best in Show, Best Paint Job, Most Unique and Crowd Favorite, among others. This includes a top pick from Maricopa Vice Mayor Vincent Manfredi.

“It’s a way to engage with our seniors … and give people something cool to do,” Manfredi told InMaricopa. “It’s also a good way to celebrate Father’s Day.”

Inside the community center, a model car show will also be on display with its own judging and awards. Door prizes and food will be available at the free event. Construction near Desert Greens Drive may result in lane restrictions and detours on Smith-Enke Road.

Want to show off your car at the event? Participants have until June 12 to register online

Vincent Manfredi is the owner of InMaricopa.

  1. In the early 80’s during high school I drove a green two door 1969 Mercury Marquise (nicknamed “the whale”) very similar to the one pictured, huge car and to this day that fire breathing 429 Police Interceptor engine made it the fastest car I have ever owned.

  2. So I’m guessing you have to have an account with the city to enter?I’m not interested. Can’t even enter your car without an account….BS
