UPDATED: Laundry room fire doused after huge Senita emergency response

UPDATE 12:14 p.m. Crews were dispatched just after 11 a.m. for reports of a fire in a home’s laundry room, according to a Maricopa Fire and Medical Department spokesperson.

Firefighters arrived to find an active fire, but the occupants had already exited the house. Crews quickly extinguished the flames and remained on scene working to clear lingering smoke.

No injuries to residents or first responders were reported.

ORIGINAL STORY 11: 43 a.m. A large contingent of police, firefighters, paramedics and animal control officers responded late this morning to a reported working house fire in the Senita neighborhood.

The call came in at 11:05 a.m. to the 43600 block of West Elizabeth Avenue, according to fire dispatch logs. More than a dozen units were assigned to the incident.

InMaricopa reporters on scene observed water pooling along the street beneath an unseasonably warm February sun as crews worked around the home. A second ambulance arrived about 11:30 a.m., and the response remained active as of noon.

The incident was listed in dispatch records as a working house fire.

InMaricopa contacted Maricopa Fire and Medical Department for additional details, including the suspected cause of the fire and whether any injuries were reported. This story will be updated.
